Welcome to the new Evolution Website! We hope you like it and look forward to hearing your feedback.

There is still plenty of work to be done, but all of the current Evolution info can be found here at EvolutionJourneyTribute.com.

New features of the website include a main slider on the Home Page which will showcase Evolution’s latest video and Special “not-to-be-missed” Events.

Also on the Home Page, we’ve included a nifty calendar where you can see where Evolution is playing next. By clicking on the Show date, you can get all the details which include an integrated Google map to the venue and a link to pre-sale tickets (when available). The Shows Page will also give you the ability to leave a comment about the show. So, let us know if you’re coming or what you thought of the performance after the show.

Social Integration

The new Evolution website is equipped with all the latest Social Network sharing capabilities!

“Like” a News Article or Upcoming Event? Then share it with your Socialites via Facebook, Twitter and Google+ with one simple click. The share buttons are abound. So… click ‘em people!

Cool Audio Player

The new Evolution website is equipped with a fancy Music Player. The “main” player is located under the Audio page and a scaled-down version is included on all of the pages of the website. Just be sure not to surf off of the page if you are jammin’ out on one of the songs.

*Best bet is to open up a new browser window and crank it up loud while you are surfing around the site.

Integrated YouTube Videos

With the popularity of YouTube at an all-time high, we have decided to use YoutTube exclusively on the new website. Over time, new videos will be added to the site and included in News & Press Pages and even in some of the Show Pages!

You can also visit the Official Evolution YouTube Page by clicking on the YouTube icon at the top-right of the website.

Evolution Newsletter

Want to keep up-to-date with all the latest happenings with Evolution? Then join our Newsletter! Newsletter Subscribers will be eligible to receive Exclusive Announcements and FREE tickets to upcoming shows.

A Word From The Web Designers

GINGALLEY Web Design & Promotions is proud to have Evolution as a new Web Client. Although we have created multiple poster designs in the past for the Band, we haven’t worked that closely on any other projects. We must say that it was a pleasure working with Jerrol, Don and Jim Douglas of Prime Time Entertainment on the new website and look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Evolution. We wish them much success and are here to help see that happens!

FREMONT, CA
by Alan Lopez - San Jose Mercury News

People packed the first day of the 28th annual Fremont Festival of the Arts on Saturday, which is expected to draw close to 400,000 people over the weekend.

The event claims to be the largest free street fair west of the Mississippi, and includes more than 600 artist booths, 34 food vendors, two music stages and numerous children’s activities at the YMCA Kid City.

It covers four miles of central Fremont, largely along Paseo Padre Parkway and Capitol Avenue.

Pulling her two nieces in a red wagon, San Diego resident Dianne Dorris said she’s been attending the event for the last six years.

“I like people-watching, seeing cool art and activities,” she said. “It’s really a nice, family-oriented event.”

Vendors sold handmade items such as fine art, dresses, jewelry, soap, puppets and potpourri.

Artists included Jan and Jim Knudson, whose photos of individual letters largely made up of items such as rotary telephones, golf clubs, wine bottles and fruit drew a steady stream of curious shoppers.

Customers could choose their own letters or buy framed letters in words already spelled out, including “Live,” “Love,” “Laugh,” or “Fish.”

Jan, a retiree who formerly ran a clothing wholesaler with her husband, said she got the idea for the business, dubbed “Letterosis,” more than three years ago after receiving a box of photos her sister took along the California coast.

“We love being here. … We look forward to this festival, it’s the biggest one in the Bay Area we do and we love it and enjoy all the people,” she said.

San Jose muralist Francisco Franco offered Day of the Dead-inspired artwork that included a portrait of Marilyn Monroe wearing ghostly skeletal makeup. Franco said he was also inspired by the life of artist Frida Kahlo and his own Chicano identity.

“It’s really about life,” said Franco, who began selling the artwork a year ago. “It’s about coming to terms with the reality we all have to face, and making fun of it, accepting it and enjoying life, more so.”

Booths were manned by chiropractic and dental offices, financial advisers and gourmet food companies, including Crazy Charley BBQ sauce, Primo’s Gourmet Food and the Monterey Chocolate Company.

Local service clubs were also in attendance, including Cub Scout troops, churches and sports organizations raising money through food sales.

“Support the athletic programs because they’re losing money from budget cuts,” said Pleasanton resident Anjuli Papineau, of the Ohlone College women’s soccer program. “We lost a lot of money. We’re doing everything we can to raise enough money so we can have jerseys — really, all of our equipment.”

Beer, wine and margaritas were also available to purchase. A wine garden offered tastings, catered food and entertainment for $50.

As the event began, singer-songwriter Liz Kennedy was the first to perform at the main stage on Paseo Padre Parkway to an audience of about 25 people who sat at tables under the shade of umbrellas.

The music continued on the main stage into the early afternoon with Danny Click and his band, and Contino, a Zydeco and blues group. Evolution, a Journey tribute group, headlined the main stage at 4 PM.

The Fremont festival, organized by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, will continue Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The headliner will be Santana tribute band Caravanserai, which will perform from 4 to 5:30 PM.

San Francisco’s Evolution will take the stage at the Palmdale Amphitheater this Saturday, July 9 as the City of Palmdale launches the first of five performances in its annual Starlight Concert Series.

Voted the “Top Tribute Band” two years in a row on the Greg Kihn Show on 98.5 KFOX, Evolution promises to deliver Journey’s heart-pounding, hard-hitting rock and roll hits including “Don’t Stop Believing,” and “Any Way You Want It”, and signature ballads “Open Arms,” and “Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’” with all the energy of the original group.

Formed in 2004 by lead guitarist Jerrol Reavis, these incredibly talented San Francisco musicians show true respect for the music of Journey while bringing the highest level of musicianship to the audience, emphasizing the music and energy of the legendary band.

Admission is $5 for age 13 and older; guests 12 and younger are admitted free, and parking is free. A season pass is available to Palmdale residents for $15, a savings of $10 for all five concerts, and $20 for non-residents, a savings of $5 for all five concerts.

A limited number of VIP tickets are being offered this year for $10, which includes express entry and seating at the front of the stage, ensuring that VIP ticket holders can arrive just before the concert and still get one of the best seats in the house. VIP seating is theater style (first-come, first-served), with chairs provided courtesy of the Antelope Valley Mall. Guests 12 and younger will need to purchase a VIP ticket to be seated in the VIP area.

SAN JOSE, CA
by Garrett Wheeler for Metroactive.com

FREE FESTIVAL begins 21st season in downtown San Jose. In times of economic instability, finding cheap solutions to life’s problems becomes an important aspect for maintaining a healthy well-being. We amend our daily lives in various ways—by riding a bike to work or eating more ramen—but no money-saving activity can match the pure emotional force of music, especially when it’s presented at the lovely cost of nothing. Not only is the annual Scion Music in the Park series, presented by Metro and Dos Equis, free of charge, but unlike most free shows, the acts rank at the top of their respective genre class, from rock & roll to reggae.

The series kicks off June 4 at 5:30pm in Cesar Chavez park in San Jose with two cover bands, Journey tribute group Evolution and local band Long Gon Bon, an AC/DC tribute. Evolution is capable of dead-on Journey re-enactments, power ballads and all. AC/DC fans will revel in Long Gon Bon’s preservation of the hard rock band’s early era, when singer Bon Scott led the group through classics immortalized on High Voltage and the follow-up Highway to Hell. Sierra Leone’s Refugee Allstars (June 11) offer a vibrant blend of traditional West African song, roots reggae and rock-tinged rhythm & blues.

San Francisco’s alt-rock hero Third Eye Blind (June 18) combines post-grunge with catchy, pop-sensible melody. Cal alumni Stephan Jenkins formed the band in 1995 alongside bassist Arion Salazar and guitarist Kevin Cadogan, a former student of Joe Satriani. Ursa Major, due out this year, is Third Eye Blind’s first studio album in five years, and should justly reacquaint fans with the band’s catchy alt-rock tunes. Famed percussionist and band leader Pete Escovedo performs at his 15th Music in the Park on June 25, the most ever by any musician at the series. On July 2, the Tubes get set to reveal their latest art-rock concepts. The San Francisco–based group began as a concept-band led by singer Fee Waybill and guitarist Bill “Sputnik” Spooner. Having inspired everyone from Weird Al to the Foo Fighters, the Tubes legacy remains colorfully intact.

No less bizarre than the Tubes for his place in the reggae world, dancehall pioneer Eek-A-Mouse (July 9) is characterized by a distinctly inventive sing-jay vocal style. The 6-foot-6 reggae star got his start as a Jamaican DJ and roots singer before crossing over into the dancehall market with his 1979 hit “Once a Virgin.” Reggae artist Pato Banton (July 16) brings his socially conscious messages to audiences worldwide. Known for involving audiences in his show during impromptu jam sessions, Banton’s debut came in 1985 with Mad Professor Captures Pato Banton. Local songwriter Matt Nathanson (July 23) made his debut on the scene with a Music in Park performance in 2006. Since then, he’s racked up a nice local following and released a handful of critically acclaimed albums.

Men at Work’s Colin Hay (July 30) is performing with his six-piece band, mixing new solo compositions with classics like “Who Can It Be Now” and “Down Under.” The following week R&B man Anthony David (Aug. 6) performs songs off his latest album Acey Deucy. Alt-rock trio Better than Ezra (Aug. 13) has a new drummer and a new album, Paper Empire, to be released later this year. The “king of Slydeco,” guitarist Sonny Landreth (Aug. 20) recently released From the Ranch, his first album on his own Landfall label. Concluding the festivities is the Bay Area favorite White Album Ensemble (Aug. 27), a Beatles tribute band whose latest indulge is songs from the 2008 film Across the Universe.

SCION MUSIC IN THE PARK, presented by Metro and Dos Equis, takes place Thursdays, June 4–Aug. 27, 5:30–9:30pm, in Cesar Chavez Plaza, downtown San Jose. Admission is FREE.
