Geoff Lloyd

Geoffrey Lee Lloyd joined Evolution in 2011 as the bassist and backing vocalist. Geoffrey was raised in Dublin, CA and is proud to be the bassist for Evolution! Geoffrey grew up in a musical family and was endlessly entertained watching his very talented father play the “boogie woogie” piano. Geoffrey’s father served as his inspiration and he sat at the same piano trying to emulate his sound when he was only seven months old!

Geoffrey’s first “pro-gig” was when he was 11 yrs old playing with the band “Soft Wind Trio,” whose members included Jimmy Z and his dad, Jimmy Sr. His thirst for music continued and at the age of 13 he began playing other instruments including the trumpet, trombone, harmonica, drums and percussion, guitar. By the age of 16 he was part of an original band called “Hemp Bros. Band,” with local favorites Earl Pavao, Randy Curtolla, Bobby Doporto, and Evolution’s very own Don “The Rocket” Stephenson. The band had amazing success and a very solid following, and he formed a lifelong friendship with Don that led him to his eventual partnering with Evolution.

In later years Geoffrey enjoyed playing with Disco Funk player, Sylvester James, a San Francisco icon, and Geoffrey enjoyed his first opportunity to go on tour following a record deal they signed with Blue Thumb Records. Their second tour afforded them the chance to play with great acts such as David Bowie, The Doobie Brothers, Cold Blood and Aretha Franklin. On this tour Geoffrey connected with the members of Cold Blood and spun off with two of them to form an original project for AM Records to release two records under the band name “Souvenirs.”
